OFFICIATING

This is a shinny tournament but their will be refs on the ice. Don't expect the refs to be perfect they are here to keep everyone safe. They are their to drop the puck after a goal and to call penalties when necessary. This is a charity tournament so we expect good hockey but we all have to be cognizant of why we're playing.

GAME TIME

Warm-up - 2-5 min depending on schedule
1st - 10 min (run)
2nd - 15 min (run)
3rd - 15 min (run w/ stop last 2 min of close game at refs discretion)

This is designed to keep the tournament on schedule.. Don't worry in each team is guaranteed to play get 3-4 games so there will be lots of ice time.

GAME PLAY & PENALTIES

No Redline
Offsides apply
Icings will be called at refs discretion w/ player safety in mind
High Sticks connecting with the puck will be blown down.
Slapshots are NOT permitted (shots where the stick is pulled back above the knee will be blown down)

PENALTIES

PENALTY SHOTS - In an effort to keep players honest, keep the games competitive and exciting, penalties will not be called the usual way. In our tournament when a penalty is called unless an ejection is warranted both players will remain on the ice but a penalty shot will be awarded to the victim at the end of the period.. This is designed to discourage penalties as you may be winning the game but lose on penalty shots if the other team capitalizes on their opportunities.

All Normal Penalty infractions apply (trip, slash, high stick, body check, boarding, hit from behind, roughing, etc.)
Slapshots are NOT permitted (shots where the stick is pulled back above the knee will be blown down)

Fighting & Intent to Injure is not permitted, anyone caught fighting or attempting to hurt another player, spectator or volunteer will be ejected from the tournament
Intentional Dangerous Contact will result in ejections from the game at the referees discretion
Unnecessary roughness and Scrums after the whistle can result in penalties at the referees discretion

Referees may, at their discretion eject a player from the game if they feel that player poses a safety risk to other players on the ice. No refunds will be given to players who've been ejected.

Minor penalties will NOT be assessed.
Instead the victim of the penalty will take a penalty shot at the end of the period.

TIES
A tie in the standings will be determined first by head-to-head and then by goals differential between the two teams and total goals for after that.

Tie games will be determined by a 1 round sudden death 3 shooter shoot out finishing in a tie if we aren't able to find a winner.

Championship games will be settled by a 3 player shoot out.

We need to maintain a schedule so as we no longer have the ice after 5pm on Sunday. We need to keep things moving.

CAMPUS ICE CENTRE

Campus Ice Centre rules and regulations apply at all times. This includes but is not limited to no smoking in the facility and no alcohol outside of designated areas where it is prohibited.
