WE DID IT!!!!
Thank you all for your patience as we tie up all the loose ends on the 2016 No Surrender Hockey Challenge this year.
We're pleased to announce on behalf of Jim and myself (Brian) and all the volunteers we managed to raise $10,480 for the CMHA Durham this year beating our objective by $480.
Your participation and donations go along way to helping the CMHA impact those struggling in our community get the affordable help they need. CMHA Durham's services support the general community and those in serious need. Services include an in-house Nurse-Practitioner Clinic and Pharmacy, Assertive Community Treatment providing 24/7 client centered recovery-oriented treatment for those 18-65 with serious persistent mental illness, case management and access to safe and affordable housing for those with broader needs.
By donating to the CMHA Durham we help them expand their reach through community education initiatives to break down stigma and inform the community, Events like the Family Info Sessions happening this Thursday and special speaking engagements like the one featuring Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Stéphane Grenier on Post-Tramatic Stress this September on top of existing services bring new light to mental illness and how to deal with it.
We've grown this tournament together over the years. The compassion and participation you've provided has been able to impact this community. Not just the CMHA but those of us participating. I've heard countless stories since we started this tournament 5 years ago, had dialogue I'd never imagined possible in the past. All because together we've created a safe place for ourselves and our peers to engage one another around the sensitive topic of mental illness.
Sincere Thank You to all who've played a role in this years event and each year leading up to now.
