We're looking for help in creating a slogan for next years hockey tournament. Help us out by telling us what you think No Surrender means.
The No Surrender Hockey Challenge is not about never giving in. It's not about pulling yourself up by your boot straps and toughing it out. It's not even about giving more when we feel like we've got nothing left to give.
So you might be saying, what does No Surrender have to do with hockey. Aren't all those things synonymous with what it means to be a good hockey player?
Well you'd be right.... And you'd be wrong. Being a good hockey player is also about being a good teammate. It's about supporting each other and building each other up in tough situations. It's about having your teammates back when the game gets rough. It's about taking the lead but it's also about letting your teammates shine and take the lead when needed. Think about all those secondary players that come through in the clutch when the star just can't get going.
In your life, you are the star player. All the focus is on you and how you are leading and helping your team. When you're doing well everything is great. When you're struggling it's tough. That's when you're battling it out and you can't seem to find the net or make that big save to keep the game close. That's when you're injured and you need time to heal. Everything is falling apart and if you're alone it's really tough to turn it around. That's when you need your team. You need your secondary guys/gals to back you up.
That's what No Surrender Hockey Challenge is all about. It's about understanding and accepting our own needs and more importantly the needs of others. We're not robots. We're human. This is not a video game. This is real life. If you're injured you have to heal. You can't help the team running on half a tank. That's why you're team is there for you and that's why you're there for your teammates when they need you.
So what does this mean to you? If you had one sentence, one phrase to sum-up what being a good teammate means in the context of No Surrender Hockey Challenge what would that be?
