2015 NO SURRENDER HOCKEY CHALLENGE IS COMING - MAY 23-24
It's time to not just talk about mental illness in Durham region, it's time to act. The best way to act for Canadians has always been a good game of hockey.
Join us May 23-24 (don't worry this is actually NOT the long week-end in May) at Campus Ice Centre in North Oshawa for the 4th Annual No Surrender Hockey Challenge in support of the Canadian Mental Health Association.
This time last year NHL teams across Canada participated in Hockey Talks. It was a month-long initiative to bring increased dialogue and awareness to mental health and effective treatments.
This past week was Bell Canada's Let's Talk initiative's fifth year. This year they donated over $6 million to Canadian mental illness causes due to the action Canadian's took on their mobile phones and Facebook pages.
Mental Health organizations all over the country are asking Canadians to keep the momentum going and we're responding to that.
On the second week of May the CMHA National will be promoting Mental Health Week in Canada and when that's over No Surrender Hockey Challenge will pick-up the torch and keep the dialogue going in our community.
Some quick announcements about this years tournament.
1) Rather then having individuals register we're asking that teams register as a team with one key contact.
2) Fundraising is NOT mandatory. A portion of the proceeds off every teams registration will go to support the CMHA.
The CMHA sincerely appreciates the fundraising efforts we make however not all participants wish to fund raise. Your hard work to support the CMHA through donations in the name of this tournament is a symbol of our mission to erase the stigma of Mental Illness in Canada.
